Abstract of working Project
The rural India lives in remote villages and has a rich depository of indigenous knowledge of plant biodiversity and its sustainable use. While much research has been done on theoretical aspects of the community knowledge systems, efforts to devise methods and approaches for quantifying community knowledge are still lacking. My project will help me to learn the latest methods and approaches devised and used by IFRI, SNRE for quantifying community knowledge systems and devising framework. I will also gain the knowledge on practical models used for studying location specific community knowledge and predicting contribution of such quantified knowledge in plant conservation practices and sustainable development in India. Based on the four months works at SNRE, the key issues relating to community knowledge and present problems including climate change will be identified and accordingly the future work and action would be framed to enhance community based conservation and sustainable development
