Join U-M's Diplomat-in-Residence, Jim Ellickson-Brown, to learn about careers with the U.S. Department of State.

He will provide information on the Foreign Service Officer selection process and test along with info on how he can assist students.

Are you considering registering for the Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Test in June or at some point in the future? Curious whether the work and lifestyle of the Foreign Service would be a good fit for you? Interested in a comprehensive overview of the multi-step path to a career as a FSO with the U.S. Department of State?

If so, be sure to attend this information session led by Diplomat in Residence Jim Ellickson-Brown. Mr. Ellickson-Brown will discuss the professional and personal considerations associated with a career in the Foreign Service and will review each step in the Foreign Service Officer Selection Process—from the selection of a functional area of specialization through the orientation class for new officers. Sponsored by the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.

For additional information, visit the Department of State careers website and download the Guide to the Foreign Service Officer Selection Process brochure.
Individuals with a smart phone may also wish to download the new mobile app. You can find information on upcoming events and test yourself on sample questions from the job knowledge section of the Foreign Service Officer Test.

Individuals who are unable to attend this session may contact Mr. Ellickson-Brown at ellickso@umich.edu for further information.

P.S. SNRE PhD alum Andy Winkelman is a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department in central Africa!
