The Michigan Branch Telluride Association is currently accepting applications for full room and board merit scholarships; renewable for up to 5 years. Undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Michigan are eligible to apply.
Applications are now available online at www.telluride-house.org and must be received no later than 5pm October 23, 2013.
This scholarship is committed to establishing a vibrant community supporting democratic ideals of self-governance, a stimulating intellectual environment, and a commitment to public service. Approximately 25 housemembers (all on room and board scholarship at the House) range from freshmen to Ph.D students, and are joined in residence by faculty fellows from several fields. By living with a commitment to our self-governing community, Telluride strives to foster the moral and intellectual growth of its members. Past winners of the Telluride scholarship include a diverse set of luminaries such as philosopher Francis Fukuyama, postmodern scholar Gayatri Spivak, World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, and several Nobel prize winners including Steven Weinberg, Linus Pauling, and Richard Feynman.
The house is located on the corner of Washtenaw and Cambridge, a short walk from Central Campus (diagonal from the painted rock). It is beautiful and spacious, with a fine library, a talented and dedicated staff (e.g., full-time chef, kitchen assistants, maintenance staff, cleaning staff), free utilities, and excellent recreational facilities.
