Student Diversity Scholarship
Application
Administered by the SAF National Committee on Cultural Diversity to attend the
2011 SAF National Convention, Honolulu HI, November 2-6, 2011
The award covers registration, a ticket to the diversity reception, travel (except transportation
to and from airports), and hotel accommodations. Meals are not covered except when included
in convention functions. Applications must be received by Friday, September 9, 2011. For
more information about the conference, please visit the SAF website at www.eforester.org.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Currently Enrolled as a student (graduate or undergraduate) in September 2011
2. Interested in forestry or natural resources as a career
3. Meet the diversity criteria as described below: í¢â‚¬Å“í¢â‚¬ ¦to encourage the involvement in the
profession of a variety of people in terms of race, ethnic background, religion, age,
gender, and those disabled, as well as the diversity of geography, employer groups,
philosophies, and career choices within the broad field of forestry. Cultural diversity
embodies all peopleí¢â‚¬
4. Willingness to serve as Diversity Ambassadors to help the mission of the diversity
committee. Attend various activities of the diversity committee at the convention. These
activities will be communicated to the scholarship recipients in advance. This may
include attending meetings, participating in roundtable discussions, giving short
speeches, interacting with student delegates, and meeting with the SAF leadership. The
Committee on Cultural Diversity also expects the scholarship recipients to continue their
involvement in activities to promote the mission of the committee at their institutions.
Each scholarship recipient will be assigned to a mentor from the Diversity Committee to
facilitate this process.

the diversity criteria as stated in the mission of the Committee on Cultural Diversity.
3. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
