Immigration Considerations for Entrepreneurial International Students

Hosted by the Center for Entrepreneurship and the University of Michigan International Center, and led by Scott Cooper, Partner and Managing Attorney at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, PLLC, this workshop will address common questions and issues faced by international students working on a startup venture in the United States. Topics covered will include:

1)    Considerations while in school (e.g. Is it employment or isn't it? How much involvement is too much? Options in the F-1 and J-1 categories)
2)    Options after graduation (e.g. Post-graduate work authorization; Time limits on OPT/AT; Other temporary visas)
3)    Getting a green card (e.g.  Do you want or need a green card? NIW or EB1)
4)    Other issues (e.g. Use of temporary visas for new businesses/business owners; Corporate/contract issues; Tax issues; Family options)
5)    Getting additional help
