Summer Groundskeeping Job in Ann Arbor - $14 per hour
Hereí¢â‚¬â„¢s a groundskeeping job here in Ann Arbor:
Former U of M Regent and friend of SNRE, the Arb and Matthaei Gardens, Phil Power is looking to hire people interested in a summer job working on his property about five miles northeast of Ann Arbor. A number of our students have worked for Mr. and Mrs. Power over past years, always with great success.
The work is varied, all out of doors, and takes place under the supervision of a knowledgeable and experienced manager. Typical tasks include mowing (using a self-riding small lawn tractor), cutting fields to arrest old field progression (using a brush hog mounted on a farm tractor), cutting and pruning fruit and other trees, cutting brush, burning a five-acre prairie, operating a chipper and spreading chips.
In addition to the ability to know and identify trees, shrubs and plants and to use small hand tools, it is very desirable to be able to operate a small riding tractor and a full farm tractor. Physical strength is not at a premium, although willingness to lift the odd load and pitch in where needed is important.
The job typically involves a 35-hour week, weather permitting, and pays $14 per hour. Work hours are normally 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Access to reliable transport is necessary to get to and from work. Employment status is as a í¢â‚¬Å“seasonal employeeí¢â‚¬ with federal and state taxes withhold from paychecks. Other than workersí¢â‚¬â„¢ compensation, no benefits are available.
The job starts whenever in the spring people are available to work and would continue, ideally, through September.
Those interested should e-mail Milbert Reuer at mreuer@hotmail.com to arrange an interview.
